Avest Smith

Mr. Avest Smith, 88, of 4992 Titan Roberts Road, Erwin, passed away May 31, 2019. 

Survivors:  wife - Hattie Smith of the home; three sons - Keith Smith (Freda) of Winston-Salem, Maurice Smith of the home and Jesse Johnson (Lydia) of the Riverside Community; four grandchildren - Ashley and Kelson Smith of Winston-Salem, Jessica Johnson of Fayetteville and Anetra Johnson of Spring Lake; sister - Ethelene Elliott of Pennsylvania; sisters and brothers-in-law - Clara Trevenel Brown (Henry), Dennis McNeill, John McNeill all of Erwin, Alberta McKoy (Aaron) of Maryland, Bessie McNeill of the Riverside Community and Henry McNeill (Martha) of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

The viewing will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, from 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, 3920 Bunnlevel-Erwin Road, Erwin.

The burial will follow in the Riverside Community Cemetery, Erwin.
