Bishop William D. Barnes

Bishop  William Barnes, 92, of 306 West Duke Street, Dunn, passed away January 11, 2023.

Bishop Barnes was preceded in death by his wife- Pastor Cora Barnes; four sons- James Edward Byrd, Atlas Leon Byrd, Clarence Melvin Byrd, and Charlie Byrd.

Left to cherish his memories are: four daughters- Hazel (Bobbie) Lewis of Sanford, NC, Pastor Laverne (Apostle Ron) Spears of Dunn, NC, Gloria Walker of the home, and Betty Spears of Spring Lake, NC;  two sons- Minister Darren (Monical) Barnes of Portsmouth, VA, and Anthony (Keva) Barnes of Waldorf, MD; two daughters-in-law- Lottie Byrd of Dunn, NC, and Brenda Byrd of California; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; a faithfully dedicated nephew-  Kenneth Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home- Dunn, Friday, January 20, 2023, from 1PM-5PM. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Funeral Service will be held at Cape Fear Conference A, Erwin, Saturday, January 21, 2023 @12PM, following the guidelines of the facility for entrance and capacity.

Interment will follow in the Riverside Community Cemetery, Erwin.
