Bobby Williams Obituary

Mr. Bobby Ray Williams, 74, of 1886 Butler Rd, Salemburg, passed away January 17, 2023.   He was the son of the late Iley Randall Williams and Cladie Draughon Williams of Sampson County.  He was the baby of fourteen children.

Bobby attended Pleasant Grove School.  He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.  On June 10, 1967 he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Williams, and to this union two sons, Robert and Chris, and a daughter, Leatrice, were born.

Bobby was employed at Black and Decker, where he served dutifully for over 25 years before retiring.  He was a devoted member and contributor to the Good Idea Club at Black and Decker and was the recipient of several awards.  In his leisure, he enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, fishing, gardening, and perfecting his Bar-B-Que recipe.  He was known for winning awards in the annual Harvest Fest hosted in Clinton. NC. Bobby also adopted a hobby of making cookers and grills out of barrels until his health probhibited him.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  his loving wife of almost 56 years, Mary Ann Williams;  two sons - Robert Williams (Audra) of Fayetteville, and Christopher Williams of Angier;  daughter - Leatrice Caldwell (Jason) of Whitsett, NC.; granddaughter - Jasmine Williams of Autryville; grandsons - Robert Williams, Jr. of Gibsonville, NC., Ethan Caldwell of Whitsett;  sisters - Pauline Brown of Salemburg, Lydia Gibson (John) of Autryville;  brother - R. C. Williams of Autryville; mother-in-law - Geraldine Bennett of Clinton;  brothers-in-law - Elliott Autry, Millard Autry, both of Autryville,  Larry Bryant (Grace) of Garland, Joseph Bryant (Mary) of Clinton, Dennis Bryant (Alfreda) of Clayton, Lloyd G. Bennett, Jr. of Clinton, Walter Bennett (Robin) of Raleigh;  sisters-in-law - Delores Bryant-Blanton (Calvin) of Raleigh, Beverly Scott of Clinton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service  will be held at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Autryville, Friday, January 21, 2022 beginning at 2PM, following the guidelines of the church for entrance and capacity.
