Herbert Hoover Johnson

Mr. Herbert Hoover Johnson, 87, of 5311 Fairground Road, Dunn, passed away April 26, 2021. He met the love of his life Clara Bell Monk and they married December 13, 1954. He loved his immediate family and his extended family and served as a “father figure” to many nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish and honor his memories: his wife - Clara Monk Johnson of the home; children - Debra Johnson of Garner, Lyndell Hockaday-Fritz (Steven) of Irvington NJ, Demetrius Johnson of Wallace, Donnaphine Turner (James) of Garner, Chona of Raleigh, Jeffrey Johnson (Beverly) of Durham; grandchildren - Brandon Johnson (Tasha) of Knightdale, James Turner III of Benson, Darius Turner of Garner, Marcelous Hockaday of Irvington, NJ, Logan Johnson of Durham; 1 great grandchild - James Turner IV; sisters-in-law - Bernice Johnson, Mildred Monk, and Marilyn Monk; brothers-in-law - Odell Taylor, James Peterson, and Larry Monk (Henrietta); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The public viewing will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with no more than 10 individuals inside at one time. Masks are required and practice social distancing.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Pisgah Harnett O.F.W.B. Church, Erwin, with masks required and following the church’s guidelines for entrance, capacity, and social distancing.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Harnett O.F.W.B. Church Cemetery, Erwin.
