James Wynn, Jr. Obituary

Mr. James Edward Wynn, Jr.,  76, of 400 Ponderosa Drive, Apt. 136, Dunn, passed away August 6, 2022.  The family will receive friends at the home of Shannon Wynn, 813 N. 14th Street, Erwin

James was preceded in death by his loving wife Lena Mae Giles Wynn, his parents James Edward and Mary Wynn Sr. and his siblings Alice Ingram, Jethro Wynn, Patricia Durant, Ethel Nichols, Terrans Wynn, and Edna Lois McNeill.

James was a provider and protector of his family and friends. He was the core of the entire Wynn family and was well known and respected throughout the community.

He attended Harnett High School but later would find his great passion in brick masonry when he learned the trade at CCCC. James worked as the Foreman for Elmore Construction Company where he was responsible for supervising projects such as Betsy Johnson Hospital, Harnett Primary School, South River Electric, Grantham High School, Pope Air Force Base projects, prisons and numerous other facilities located all over North and South Carolina. He was known for his great ability to study blueprints created by top engineers, and they were amazed when he humbly made changes that was necessary to construct the buildings safely, “HE WAS A MASTER BUILDER.” Reluctantly he would later retire from construction after working for over 45 years. James loved his job, but he was most proud when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and became a member of St. Stephen Disciple of Christ Church where he was later appointed to Deacon.
