Minister Lena Gant, 94, of 1333 Butler Road, Salemburg, passed away August 29, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children - Pastor James C. Gant of Charlotte, Bernard Gant (Nadeem) of Saint Petersburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; sisters - Rena Pearl McNeil , Arensia Williams , and Mary Wright, all of Fayetteville; brother - Evander Williams (Yvonne) of Salemburg; a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Minister Gant loved working in her garden, planting squash, peas, beans, cabbage, okra, turnips, collard greens, tomatoes, string beans, and white potatoes. Every year she would plant some kind of trees, pecans, apples, pears, peaches. She kept up all her grapevines. Her special tool was the grub and hoe that she used to chop dandelions and joint grass. She loved and was passionate about picking up food from a number of food banks just to give and pass out and share with other people which was a weekly love and ministry. She did not own a dog, but would put out food for any and all the neighborhood dogs that would run through her yard. She was a great supporter of a number of ministries in Haiti, Jamaica and would send funds to churches and track ministries.
The public viewing will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Masks are required to enter.
The graveside service will be conducted Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Union Chapel Outreach Center Cemetery, 7254 Minnie Hall Road, Roseboro. Masks are required.
