Marion J. Humphrey "MJ"

Mr. Marion Joseph Humphrey "MJ", 69, of 1624 Oak Grove Church Road, Wake Forest, passed away November 8, 2021.

He was born on July 27,1952 in Birmingham, AL to the late Louis M. Humphrey and Lois McAfee Humphrey. MJ attended Catholic elementary and high schools in Birmingham, Alabama and continued his education at Howard University in Washington, DC, the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and San Jose State University in San Jose, California. MJ was a member of the Triangle Church of Christ in Durham, North Carolina for more than 21 years, where he served as an Usher, Family Group Leader and a member of the Security Team. MJ was a salesperson extraordinaire. He was always top salesperson in any sales field he chose, be it automotive or real estate. His real estate sales career began here in North Carolina in 2006, and after being a top producer for a local brokerage for many years, he established his own firm in 2016, Achieve Real Estate LLC.  

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife - Deborah Brown Humphrey; daughter - Nicole H. Dumas (Defellus); sons - Marcus J. Humphrey, Sr. (Tiffany) and Alexander H. Denson (Brittany) both of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren - Zoe Nicole Dumas, Ava Nicole Dumas, Defellus D. Dumas, Jr., Marcus J. Humphrey, Jr., and Margot James Denson; step grandchildren - Justiny Sanders, Cameron Sanders and Jaiden Sanders all of Birmingham, AL; three sisters - Barbara H. Miller (George Hill) of Acworth, GA, Charlotte H. Wooten of Wake Forest, and Madeliene H. Dobbins of Raleigh; two brothers - Louis M. Humphrey (Roseanne) of Durham, and Joel Levert (Joyce) of Phoenix, AZ; mother-in-law - Lucy Brown of Henderson; brothers-in-law - Dennis Brown (Stephanie) of Henderson, and Michael Brown (Tameka) of Clayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

The family visitation will be Monday, November 15, 2021 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm with a public viewing also on Monday from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Dafford Funeral Home, Angier. Masks are required to enter.

The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Triangle Church of Christ, 2103 Page Road, Durham, following the church's guidelines for entrance, capacity, and social distancing.

Burial will follow in the St. Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery, Durham.
