Martha Ruth Matthews

Ms. Martha Ruth Matthews, 85, of 55 Neill’s Creek Road, Lillington, passed away September 16, 2021. The family will receive friends at the home and also at the home of Raymond & Joyce Spears, 80 Phillips Road, Dunn. She leaves to cherish her memories: six children - Joyce Simmons (Raymond) of Dunn, Freda Monk (Karen) of Portsmouth, VA, Tracey Raye (Montgomery) of Whiting, KS, Eric Matthews (Glenda) of Severn, MD, Michelle Matthews of Lillington, Quntion Matthews (Deloris) of Lillington; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one God Child - Troy Pettis (Lateasha) of Bel Alton, MD; two sisters - Mary Liz Barbee and Mary Liza Chapman all of Springfield, TN; two brothers - Will Davis Woodard (Janet) and Lee Woodard both of Springfield, TN; a host of nieces and nephews.

The public viewing will be Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn. Masks are required to enter.

The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 12 Noon at the Cape Fear A Conference Headquarters, 25 Beaver Road, Erwin. Masks are required and following the facility’s guidelines for entrance, capacity, and social distancing. 

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
