Mr. James O. Holliday

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. James O. Holliday, 88, of 200 Chelsey Lane Apartments, Apt# 3B, Dunn, on Friday, July 26, 2024.

The family will receive friends at 200 Chelsey Lane Apartments, Apt# 9D, Tuesday-Thursday, from 1PM-4PM. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

 A lifelong resident of Harnett County, he met the woman of his dreams, Martha Mae Terry, and they married on September 12, 1958, and remained so for 68 years. Together they made their home in Erwin, North Carolina.  He loved and taught bible study in his home for many years.  James enjoyed farming, pulpwood tree cutting, fishing, hunting, mechanics, boxing, wrestling, four-wheeling, recycling, checkers, playing cards, taking pictures, and talking (he never met a stranger).  He was a member of Mount Pisgah-Harnett OFWB Church, where he  was baptized as a young man and remained a member until his passing. 

James leaves to cherish his memories, his wife- Martha Mae Holliday; four children- Cora Dykes (Joe) of Dunn, NC, James Henry Holliday (Tausha) of Erwin, NC, Ammie Holliday of Erwin, NC, and John Holliday (Loretta) of Benson, NC; sisters- Susie Johnson (Robert), Peggy Robinson (Paul), Delorise Williams, all of Erwin, NC; brothers- Johnnie Holliday (Lessie) of Linden, NC, and Ransom Holliday (Sharon) of Durham, NC; sisters-n-law- Mary Mitchner of Selma, NC, Blanche Williams of Erwin, NC, Inez Williams of Four Oaks, NC; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 1PM-5PM and Mt. Pisgah OFWB Church, Erwin, Friday, August 2, 2024, from 12PM-12:55PM.

Funeral Service will follow @ 1PM, following the guidelines of the church for entrance and capacity.

Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
