It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. James Archie McLean, affectionately known as “Flap”, 83, of 604 Lucas Rd., Dunn, on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
Flap was a resident of Dunn, North Carolina, currently a patient at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunn. Flap is the son of the late Ada and James (Dee) McLean and the brother of the late Pierce and Lester McLean. Flap grew up in the Riverside community of Erwin, North Carolina. His parents were well known in the community and instilled the importance of loving the Lord. His mother Ada was a proud hard-working member of Oak Grove A.M.E Zion church and his father Dee(James Archie Sr.) took pride in providing for his family while gainfully employed with Erwin Mill.
Flap was kind and embraced all people. He was a skilled construction worker, working for numerous individuals until his health failed. For those who knew Flap well, you know he loved music. On any given day he was the great debater when it came to music, partially Motown, remembering who wrote and sang most songs. He would even gladly sing a tune especially if it was Otis Redding (Sitting on the Dock of the Bay). His pleasant smile will be greatly missed.
Flap leaves to cherish his memory, his special great nephews Kendrick & Walter Smith, nieces, nephews, and a host of family members and dear friends.
Memorial Service will be held at Dafford Funeral Home Chapel, Dunn, Thursday, June 19, 2025 @ 6PM, following the guidelines of the chapel for entrance and capacity.
