Mr. Johnnie Smith Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of Mr. Johnnie Smith, 71, formerly of Dunn, NC, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Mr Johnnie was born on December 13, 1953, in Dunn, North Carolina, Johnnie was the second eldest of six children born to the late John and Hermie Smith. Throughout his life, Johnnie held many jobs. His career began working alongside his father in the family business, John H. Smith Concrete Contractors. He later spent 13 years working with General Motors in the Material Supply Chain Organization. After retiring, he served as a school bus driver for Lincoln Consolidated Schools.

Of all the roles he held, his most cherished was that of a minister, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ—a calling that brought him deep joy and fulfillment.

Johnnie never met a stranger. He loved meeting new people, starting conversations, and was known for his humor and infectious energy. There was never a dull moment in his presence. Yet, above all, his greatest treasure was the love he had for his family and friends.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Yvonne S. Smith.
