It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. William Byrd, Jr., 70, of 81 Spruce Ln, Lillington, on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Byrd leaves to cherish his precious memories of his wife- Joyce Byrd of the home; three daughters- Tia Byrd (Nick), LaTasha Baker (Chris), and Shoinette Council (Clifton); three sons- Maurice Matthews (Tanya), Milton Mattews, and Johnny Mattews; mother-in-law- Missie Lee Harrington; two sisters- Gloria Devone and Sylvia Ann Mclean; three brothers- Bernard Herring, James B McCrae, Calvin Smith, and Andre Ray; three uncles- Charles McCrae (Hattie), Claude Surles, and Nelson Woodley; two aunts- Ann McNeill and Shelia Douglas; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law- Mary Davis (Earl), and Della Ray; two brothers-in-law- Christopher Harrington (Sherry), and Robert Harrington (Tonya); two godsons- Tommy McNeill and Isaac McLean; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held at Cape Fear A Conference, Erwin, Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 2PM- 2:55PM.
Funeral Service will follow @ 3PM, following the guidelines of the facility for entrance and capacity.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
