Mrs. Evelyn Godwin

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Evelyn Godwin, 95, of 9608 Dunn Rd., Godwin, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late Robert Felton Bell and Lucy Smith Bell.  She was number twelve out of thirteen children..  She attended the Cumberland County Schools and at an early age joined Spring hill FWB Church.

Evelyn was a giving and kind person but would let you know if she didn't like something.  She had strong family values and would do anything to help anyone.  Evelyn spoke often of her childhood and being the surviving child of thirteen.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  three sons - Jessie Martin of the home, Warren Dale Godwin (Glenda) of Dunn, and David Atkins Godwin (Bertha) of Godwin; nine grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren; one brother-in-law - James Burnette of Godwin; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Public viewing will be at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from  2PM - 6PM, following the guidelines for entrance and capacity.

The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, October 23, 2024 @ 1PM at the Spring Hill FWB Church, Godwin, following the guidelines of the church for entrance and capacity.

  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
