Mrs. Maxine (Moore) Atkins

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Maxine Moore Atkins, 82, of Lillington, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. 

Mrs. Maxine leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Janet of the home; sisters raised as daughters, Betty (Johnny) Kelly of Greensboro, NC and Frances (Aubrey) Matthews of Fayetteville, NC; 10 grandchildren, Shameka Moore, Maurice (Genelle) Moore, Patrick Moore, Kenneth Vinston, Lanisha Moore, Laquesha Moore, Cierra Moore, John Kenneth Moore Jr., Antonio Moore & James McDougald; 21 great-grandchildren, Aaziyah, Harmonii, LeLe, Mya, Evy, Quincy, Ja’Maria, Ja’Kayla, Zariyah, Zeveah, Zachariyah, Justice, Tylik, Tay’Shawn, Ty’Quan, Kyrie, Kamari, Tai’Juan, Ta’Marra, Ty’Mareon & Iesha; 2 great-great grandchildren, Tylil & Zymir; special nieces, Doris Moore & Jean Harris of Lillington, NC & Turkessha Casterlow of High Point, NC; a bonus son Allen Campbell of Lillington, NC; stepchildren, Tabatha Atkins, Jeffery Atkins, and Jennifer (LaScottie) Johnson; sisters-in-law Lorine Moore of Lillington, NC, Hazel (Rick) McCaslan & Marilyn Cox of Colorado Springs, CO;  special friends, Alice Peterson, Ruby McLean, Frances McKoy, her neighbor Kelby Smith who often checked on her often and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home Chapel in Angier on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1 PM – 5 PM.

Funeral Service will be held at Norrington A.M.E. Zion Church, 184 Norrington Rd, Lillington, on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:30 PM.

Interment will follow at Norrington A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, Lillington.
