Mrs. Velma Lee Smith Cameron, 88, of 906 S. Wilmington Avenue, Dunn, passed away January 6, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late James Buddy Williams and the late Laura A. Davis.  In 1954, she married the late Edward Langston Cameron  and to this union ten children were born.  Velma  was a devoted wife and mother.  She joined Davis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church at an early age, and was later ordained a deaconess and served until her health failed.  She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  two daughters and one son-in-law:  Ms. Phyllis McNeill of Dunn, and  Mrs.Valissa (Sherrill) McMillian of Greensboro; six sons and three daughters-in-law:  Mr.Kenneth Cameron and Mr .Jamal Cameron of the home, Mr. Michael Cameron of Dunn, Mr. Tyrone (Sheila) Cameron of Durham, Mr.  Larry (Thomasine) Cameron of Dunn, Mr. Terry (Wanda) Cameron of Staten Island, NY.; one sister - Ms. Gaylena Harris of Dunn; one brother- Mr. Thomas Davis of Dunn;  14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 1PM - 6PM at the Dafford Funeral Home, Dunn. MASKS ARE REQUIRED!

The Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 @ 12PM at the Cape Fear A Conference Headquarters, Erwin, following the guidelines of the facility for entrance and capacity. 

Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
