Mrs. Phyllis McKoy, 74, of 107 Allendale Road, Four Oaks, passed away May 29, 2022.
She attended Four Oaks Elementary School and Forest Hill High School in Four Oaks. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fayetteville State University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. Phyllis was a gifted person in many areas of her life. She was a dedicated employee of Johnston Community College, Smithfield, for over 30 years serving as the Bookkeeper. She was exemplary in her bookkeeping and accounting skills. Following her retirement, Phyllis decided that she would continue her love for mathematical preciseness from her office at home. Her clients included businesses and individuals. Financial advice was given freely as this was the spirit of this slumbering rose…caring for others rather than herself. Phyllis was an extraordinary person. She gave a great deal to others expecting nothing in return.
Preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Robert and Mrs. Mary Lily Coit McKoy; two brothers, Deacon Paul Henry McKoy and Robert McKoy, Jr. who died in infancy. Phyllis is survived by a Precious Daughter, Ms. Sophia Deshun Johnson, two beautiful grandchildren, Ms. Karylon Evonna Johnson, and Ms. Zho’Dawn Monique Johnson of Winston-Salem; Sisters, Ms. Mary McKoy Belle, Mrs. Veronica J. (Carles Surles), and Dr. Yvonne D. McKoy, Four Oaks, Mrs. Marsha D. McKoy, Pikeville, and Reverend Dr. Debra C. McKoy, Garner; Brother, Dr. Robert C. (Patricia) McKoy, Signal Mountain, Tennessee; an “adopted” sister, Ms. Queen E. Sanders, Raleigh, an additional close friend and classmate, Ms. Peggy A. Sanders, Bowie, Maryland; aunt, Mary E. Williams, Four Oaks; and several nieces, nephews, other family members, classmates, and friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5, 2022 @ 2PM at the Johnston Community College Auditorium, Smithfield, following the college's guidelines for entrance and capacity. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, Smithfield.
