Mr. Roosevelt Evans, Jr., 58, of 10413 Buncloudy Drive, Charlotte, passed away, Friday, September 23, 2022. The family will receive friends at the home of Leroy and Kim McLean, 4755 Bunnlevel-Erwin Road, Erwin.
Scooter was preceded in death by his parents- the late Roosevelt Evans, Sr. and Hattie L. Johnson; and two brothers- Johnathan Evans and Douglas Evans.
Scooter graduated from Dunn High School. He became a professional truck driver in 1985. He owned and operated his first trucking business, Smute Transport, with his baby brother Maurice. Scooter loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was famous for his macaroni and cheese and sweet potato pies. He was a diehard Carolina Panthers Fan. Immediately after was his love for fishing and he was always very proud of his catch.
Scooter leaves to cherish remarkable memories to his wife- Tracey of the home; daughter of the heart- Tia of Charlotte NC; sisters- Vanessa Evans of Charlotte and Tawanda Evans of Baltimore; brothers- Maurice (Regina) of Raleigh, NC, Michael Barkfield of Baltimore; one grandson- Tristan of Charlotte; goddaughter and niece- SheQuan Forte; one aunt- Catherine Trueheart of Baltimore; special niece- Sheena Evans; one great-great nephew- DeMize Brooks; special cousin- Donna Nelson; mother-in-law- Jean (John) Livingston; two sister-in-laws- Gwenette (Cory) and Michelle; one brother-in-law- Deron (Paula); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home- Dunn, Friday, September 30, 2022, from 1PM-5PM. Masks are required.
Funeral Service will be held at Cape Fear Conference A, Erwin, Saturday, October 1, 2022 @ 12PM, following the guidelines of the facility for entrance and capacity.
Interment will follow in the St. Timothy Church Cemetery, Erwin.
