Mrs. Alma Joyce Newbill, 78, of 638 Monagan Street, Fayetteville, passed away September 7, 2022.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents- the late Robert and Jadie Eason; nephew- Robert Eugene Eason; niece- Linda Joyce Mathieu; and sister- Evelyn Byrd.
Joyce (which she liked to be called) was educated in the Harnett County School system. She spent most of her years as a Housekeeper. Later to be Self Employed with Stifel Nicolaus in Fayetteville, NC.
Sis. Newbill attended Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. A. Jamale Johnson, which she became a member in 2007 and remained a faithful member until her departure. She was active in the S.W.A.P (Seniors with a Purpose) Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, and Wednesday Morning Bible Study. She was recently inducted into the Circle to Elders for members 75 years and older. She loved to attend church and would be very upset if you made her late but would admit that 1st Sundays were her favorite because she loved to hear the Senior Gospel Choir sing.
She is survived by her husband- Harry S. Newbill, II of Chicopee, MA; her son- Dwayne Newbill of Fayetteville, NC; daughters- Sonji Holmes (Clifton) of Fayetteville, NC and Tammy Newbill of Charlotte, NC; two step children- Sandi Turner (Daniel) of Gambrills, MD and Harry S. Newbill, III of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters- Elma Rankin of Philadelphia, PA and Linda Faye Manning of Norfolk, VA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home- Dunn, Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 1PM-5PM. Masks are required.
Funeral Service will be held at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Monday, September 19, 2022 @ 12PM, following the guidelines of the church for entrance and capacity.
Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
