Joseph L. Cathey

Mr. Joseph L. Cathey, 70, of 229 East L Street, Erwin, passed away August 6, 2020. His survivors include: his wife - Janet Foster Cathey of Riviera Beach, FL; a step-daughter - Shawna Foster of Riviera Beach, FL; one sister - Radia Cathey Platt (Columbus) of Erwin; brothers - George Wallace Cathey, III of Raleigh, Thomas Purcell Cathey (Joyce) of Elizabeth City; four grandchildren - Mark Whipple, Jr., Marquis Whipple, Joshua Whipple, and Leroy Walton; five great grandchildren - Mariana, Marlee, Kyla, Marquis, and Angel; eight brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law from Riviera Beach, FL; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law from Hazelhurst, GA; a special Goddaughter - Denise McLean; two longtime neighbors/friends - Thomas Pope and Albert Carraway; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The viewing will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 10:00 am - 12 Noon at the Dafford Funeral Home Chapel, Dunn, with not more than 10 individuals present at one time, practicing social distancing. Masks are required to enter.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 12 Noon at the Dafford Funeral Home Chapel, Dunn, with not more than 50 people present, practicing social distancing. Masks are required to enter.

Interment will be on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Bragg.
