Junnie Taylor Obituary

Mr. Junnie Taylor, 90, a resident of Litchford Falls Nursing Home, Raleigh, formerly of Angier, passed away July 30, 2022. 

He was preceded in death by his late spouse- Rosaleen Taylor; daughter- Brenda Gail Taylor;  brothers John and Hawkins Taylor; three stepsisters-  Barbara, Willa, and Carol Jean;  stepmother-  Ma Polly; and grandson- Rodney.

In his earlier years, Junnie attended Short Journey High School and later became a faithful member for many years at Williams Chapel A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church, where he enjoyed being a Class Leader, Sunday School Teacher and eventually served on the Trustee Board.

His love for music led him to numerous successful years as a member of the Gospel Royal Lights Quartet. In addition, Junnie was one of the first black Truck Drivers for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. where he contributed twenty years of his life. Searching for better opportunities, he started to work for a new cable plant built in his hometown of Angier, NC; some years later was hired by Currins & Sons where he resumed his truck driving career until retirement.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories to, his wife- Shirley of Fuquay Varina, NC; two sons- Sherwood Taylor Sr. (Doris) of Wake Forest, NC, and William Taylor Sr. (Vicky) of Durham, NC.; three grandchildren- Audrey Taylor- Thomas, Will Taylor, Jr. and Sherwood Taylor, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; stepchildren- Sherwayne, Faith, Maurice, and Mitzie; four step grandchildren; eleven great- great step grandchildren; three brothers-  Reverend Charles Taylor (Edna) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Bobby Taylor (Marie) of Willow Springs, NC, Billy Taylor of Angier, NC; and one sister-  JoAnn Taylor-Walthour of Raleigh, NC; adopted families include Veronica Findley, her three children, two grandchildren and Reverend Frank Williams (Robin), honorary son and family, outstanding brother in-law, Edward L. Blaylock (Elain) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Dafford Funeral Home,  Angier, Friday, August 5, 2022, from  1PM-5PM. Masks are required. Viewing and visitation will be on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 12Noon - 12:55 PM @ Dafford Funeral Home Chapel, Angier.  Masks are required.

Funeral Service will be held at Dafford Funeral Home Chapel- Angier, Saturday, August 6, 2022 @ 1PM.  Masks are required. Burial will follow in the Angier Community Cemetery.
