Karen Elaine Smith

Ms. Karen Elaine Smith, 63, of De Soto, Missouri, formerly of Dunn, passed away December 21, 2021 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was the daughter of the late Hattie B. Smith of Dunn. She worked for over 20 years as a chef in  Wilmington, DE at two retirement communities.  Around 2008 she relocated to Olive Branch, MS with family and later to De Soto, MO in 2013 where she lived until her passing.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  her son - Kevin T. Smith; two grandchildren - Areena K. Smith, and Sebastian A. Smith, all of De Soto, MO; two brothers - James E. Smith of Dunn, and Ronnie L. Smith of Wilmington, DE.; two sisters - Jacqueline Baah (Alexander) of Youngsville, NC., and Alder L. Smith of Dunn; her aunt - Betty L. Smith of Dunn; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a friend considered family - Lorraine Cannon (Harold) of Wilmington, DE.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Dafford Funeral Home Chapel in Dunn, with no more than 75 people allowed inside. Masks are required and practicing social distancing. There will be no public viewing.  The family is receiving friends at the home of Betty L. Smith, 1209 North Fayetteville Avenue, Dunn.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
