Ms. Shirley “Mommy” Faye Brown

Ms. Shirley Faye Brown, 75, of Raleigh, passed away, Sunday, March 17. 2024.

Shirley Faye Brown was born on December 21, 1948  in Columbus County, North Carolina to the late James Coleman Sr. and Mattie Edna Brown. On March 17, 2024, Shirley made her transition from this life while in the care of Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, North Carolina.

     Before retiring, Shirley worked as a Certified Nurse Aide II, employed at Caswell Center and as a security guard at DuPont in Kinston, North Carolina. After which she enjoyed time traveling, visiting and spending time with family.  She enjoyed worship services at Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina before her health started to decline.

     Shirley enjoyed so many passions, to include: many all-night fishing trips, traveling with family and friends, cooking big meals, listening to her music and enjoying her favorite TV shows. Her most notable passion was family; or as she’d say ‘my children’. She was a very sweet and quiet young lady who mostly kept to herself, until she got to know you. And then, you’d meet Shirley the comedienne. She had a wit like no other, kept us laughing and on our toes. She did nothing without love.

Love…she had plenty of.

Laughter…she spread often. 

Knowledge and wisdom…she shared always. 

She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. She was also preceded in death by her son, Adrian E. Dixon.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories, Louella Brown; three daughters- Fayette N. Bryant (Russell, Jr), Georgette E. Johnson, and Bridgette L. Holmes (Juan); two sons- Eureka D. Dixon (Cortina) and George E. Johnson, Jr. (Dalmika); seven grandchildren- Karcellius T. Sutton, Urika N. Sutton, CoVaunte’ A. Dixon, Khalif S. Bryant, Jaheim N. Dixon,  Alisha N. Johnson and Yamiyah Williams; nine great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held at Dafford Funeral Home Chapel, Angier, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM, following the guidelines of the chapel for entrance and capacity.
